The Craven Hall Historical Society, Inc. and the John Fitch Steamboat Museum are normally open for tours on the 2nd Sunday of every month from Noon until 3:00pm. Tours can also be arranged on Tuesday mornings between 10:00am and 12:00 noon and at other times by appointment. To make a tour appointment, please call 215-675-4698 at least one week prior to your requested appointment.
Craven Hall and the John Fitch Steamboat Museum are located at the southeast corner of Street and Newtown Rds in Warminster, PA.
SCHEDULED ACTIVITIES and EVENTS - JANUARY THROUGH JUNE, 2012
Sunday, January 8th – House and John Fitch Steamboat Museum tours. House Tours will feature an open-hearth demonstration of colonial Dutch foods.
Sunday, February 12th - House and John Fitch Steamboat Museum tours. House Tours will feature a presentation from the hearth about food preservation and winter diets in this “starving time”.
Sunday, March 11th – House and John Fitch Steamboat Museum tours. House tours will feature a presentation on 18th and 19th century medicine: science and receipts.
Sunday, April 15th -(this is the 3rd Sunday of the month- Easter is 2nd Sunday) House and John Fitch Steamboat Museum tours. House tours will feature a presentation on the restoration techniques learned and used in the restoration of Craven Hall.
Sunday, May 13th – House and John Fitch Steamboat Museum tours. House tours will feature a special Mother’s Day tribute.
Sunday, June 10th – House and John Fitch Steamboat Museum Tours. House tours will feature an inspection and discussion of a colonial herb garden and a colonial vegetable garden.
SPECIAL EVENTS
OPEN HEARTH COOKING CLASS – Sunday, April 15th 1:00PM – 5:00PM
This event offers the opportunity to learn skills for open-hearth cooking, using 18th century recipes, tools and practices in an original late 18th century kitchen. After cooking, the class members will sit down to enjoy a dinner in the lovely 19th century parlor of Craven Hall. Each participant is encouraged to invite a guest to join at the dinner time. The class are kept small so there is good opportunities to be involved in the various cooking processes and for individual attention. A reservation and pre-payment of $35 per class participant is needed at least 1 week prior to this date. Call 215-675-4698 or more info and/or reservations. Much interest has already been shown. NANCY’S SPRING TEA – Sunday, May 6th – 3:00PM – 5:00PM
This date is for the ever-popular Spring Tea at Craven Hall. Treat yourself & friends to a relaxing time enjoying an age-old tradition marked by warm tea, yummy food and good conversation in the lovely Victorian setting of Craven Hall. Call 215-675-4698 for more information and/or reservations. A reservation is held by a check for $30. This fund-raiser supports the preservation of & educational programs at Craven Hall. ANTIQUE APPRAISAL NIGHT – Friday, June 1st – 6:30PM –9:00PM
Professional appraisers will review your items at $8 each or $20 for 3 items (max.) Find what your treasure is worth! 6:30-9:00 P.M. are the hours for this most interesting evening. Barry S. Slosberg, Inc, Auctioneers / Appraisers of Philadelphia have been in business for four generations and have generously given of their time & talent to support Craven Hall Historical Society, Inc. for this memorable event.
LITTLE GIRL’S TEA – Saturday, June 9th – 1:00PM to 3:00PM
Craven Hall will host a special tea, just for young ladies aged 6-11. Their favorite dolls are also invited!
Cookies, pastries, finger sandwiches(no fingers were harmed during this process), and of course tea will be served in the splendor of this gracious mansion. Presentations by period-dressed guides will add to this fun event. Youngsters can design their own hat, provided by Craven Hall, to wear to the tea. Colonial games and a craft project are also planned.

An adult must accompany all children. Light refreshments will be served to mom or dad who must remain at Craven Hall for the duration of the tea.
CROOKED BILLET 5K RUN AND HEALTH WALK - Saturday morning, October 20, 2012
This fund-raiser is held in Warminster Park, off the Johnsville Blvd, and starts at 9:00A.M. for the 1 Mile Fun Run Run and at 9:30A.M. for the 5k Run. Prizes are awarded. What a great way to enjoy a Fall day and to support preservation and educational activities at Craven Hall!
